Persecutors came out on the Amiga in 1987, a time when the platform was starting to show what it could really do with action games. You control a lone soldier dropped into a sprawling, maze-like military complex, and your goal is straightforward: fight through it all and survive. The levels are tight, claustrophobic corridors filled with enemy soldiers and automated defenses that come at you from all directions.

You move room by room, clearing out waves of enemies while managing your limited ammunition and seeking out weapon power-ups like spread shots and lasers. The maze design forces you to learn the layout, backtracking at times to access new areas once you've found the right key or destroyed a particular barrier. Boss fights wait at the end of some stages, demanding quick reflexes and pattern recognition. It's a tense, methodical kind of shooter where rushing in usually means a quick death; the satisfaction comes from memorizing enemy placements and finally breaking through a tough section after a few tries. Moving through those narrow halls, listening for the distinct sound of an enemy spawning behind you, creates a constant low-grade tension that makes every cleared screen feel like a real accomplishment.
