You control Jack Sparrow through a series of side-scrolling levels, slashing with your sword, jumping across gaps, and occasionally using a pistol for a quick shot. The main goal is to find the Dead Man's Chest and its key, which involves exploring dense jungles, dark caves, and enemy ships screen by screen. Two mechanics stand out: managing your crew's morale on the Black Pearl by collecting rum and food, and engaging in simple but timing-based sword duels where you parry and counter. The pacing is brisk, though some sections feel unfairly difficult due to awkward platforming or sudden enemy spawns. It feels like a condensed, slightly janky version of a bigger adventure, but there's a genuine charm in navigating its clunky chaos.
