Game Overview

Pocket Rockets is one of those Amiga racing games that feels different right from the start—instead of winding tracks, you're doing straight-up drag races. The first time I played, I just stared at the bike selection screen for a solid minute trying to decide between the Kawasaki Ninja and the Honda Hurricane (went with the Ninja, obviously).

It's all about nailing the perfect launch and shifting gears at the right moment while your bike vibrates like it's about to shake apart. You can either chase your own best time or go for the championship, but either way, the real fun is in how absurdly fast everything gets by the third gear. The Suzuki Katana's my favorite now, but good luck not wiping out when you hit 180mph.

It's pure, noisy, pixelated speed with just enough strategy to keep you tweaking your approach.
