Tiny pixel players, a ruler-straight field—just pure, fast soccer where you’re constantly jamming buttons to steal the ball and sprint for a shot. That rectangle goalie somehow makes every save tense.

Game Overview

Pro Soccer (Japan) on the Game Boy is one of those games that makes you appreciate how fun simplicity can be. The players are tiny pixel blobs, and the field looks like it was drawn with a ruler, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about how fast it plays. No fancy animations, no commentary—just you, the ball, and a lot of frantic button-mashing to steal it back from the other team.

I wasn’t expecting much at first, but the controls just work. Passing feels crisp, and when you finally break away for a shot on goal, there’s this little adrenaline rush—even if the keeper’s just a rectangle that occasionally dives. It’s definitely not FIFA, but that’s kind of the point. If you’ve got 10 minutes to kill and miss the days when sports games didn’t need 50 menus, give this one a shot.

Also, the crowd noise is just a looping beep, which is somehow hilarious after a while.
