I first played QBall on the Amiga back in 1986, a game published by The English Software Company and later by Mindscape. It was one of those early Amiga titles that tried something different with the hardware, offering a 3D puzzle experience that stood out from the typical arcade or platform games of the time. The graphics were simple but effective, using the machine's capabilities to render a clean, interactive cube you could manipulate from all sides.

In QBall, you control a view of a transparent cube filled with colored balls, and your goal is to pocket them all by shooting a cue ball. The core mechanics involve rotating the entire cube to line up shots, planning angles carefully since you only see one face at a time. Each shot is timed, adding pressure as you try to clear screens before moving to the next, more complex layout. It feels like a mix of billiards and a spatial puzzle, requiring both quick thinking and a steady hand to progress.
