Qwak is one of those classic GBA games that looks simple at first—you're just a duck hopping around collecting keys and fruit—but gets surprisingly intense. The first few levels ease you in, tossing slow-moving enemies at you that go down with a couple of egg shots. Then suddenly, you're dodging spikes from the ceiling, scrambling to grab the last key before it flies away, and panicking when the lights go out and you can't see the ghosts creeping up on you.
The chocolate egg power-up is a lifesaver later on when regular eggs barely scratch tougher enemies. And those mushrooms? Tricky little things—turn spikes into flowers, grab the loot, but don’t accidentally pick up another mushroom or you’re back to dodging death again. The two-player mode is chaotic fun, especially when you’re both racing for the same key while the timer ticks down.
It’s got that perfect arcade feel—easy to pick up, tough to master, and just the right amount of "one more try" frustration. The guardian fights at the end of each area are a nice change of pace, too. Definitely a hidden gem if you like fast-paced platformers with a bit of strategy.
