Game Overview

Qwak is one of those classic Amiga games that’s way more intense than a duck-based platformer has any right to be. You’re basically a little yellow duck tossing eggs at enemies while scrambling to grab keys, fruits, and gems before the ceiling literally collapses on you—spikes start raining down if you take too long. The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s cute and simple, but by the time you hit the later areas, enemies take way more hits, and those chocolate egg power-ups become a lifesaver.

There’s this weird tension between methodical play and panic—you’ll be carefully collecting silver keys for upgrades one second, then desperately chasing down a flying key the next. And don’t even get me started on the mushrooms. Step on one, and spikes turn into harmless flowers… until you grab another mushroom and they turn deadly again. The guardians at the end of each area are no joke either, and the 20-second challenge levels? Pure chaos.

It’s got that perfect ‘just one more try’ energy, especially in two-player mode where everything gets twice as frantic. For a budget title, it’s packed with little details—hidden tricks, bonus gems, even a ghost that chases you if you linger too long. Just watch out for those booby traps.
