Raid 2020 came out in 1988 for the NES, developed and published by Color Dreams. It's one of those late-era action games that tried to stand out with a gritty, near-future setting, a time when unlicensed publishers were experimenting with themes Nintendo usually avoided. You play as Shadow, an elite narcotics agent sent into a crime-ridden city to take down a drug lord named Pit Bull.

You move from left to right through urban environments, switching between a few different weapons like lasers and proximity mines to clear out enemies. The goal is straightforward: fight through each stage, defeat the boss, and advance toward the final confrontation. The screen scrolls continuously, and you have to manage your limited ammo while avoiding enemy fire. It's fast and fairly difficult, with respawning enemies and tight spaces that keep you on edge. Playing it feels like running a gauntlet where every small mistake costs you.
