Re-Volt came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by Acclaim Studios London. It was part of that late 90s wave of racing games that tried something a little different, moving away from simulation toward more playful, imaginative concepts. While other titles focused on realism, Re-Volt embraced the small scale and charm of radio-controlled cars.

You control miniature RC vehicles, racing them through everyday locations like supermarkets, museums, and suburban backyards. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. Along the way, you pick up weapons and gadgets, like oil slicks and homing missiles, to disrupt opponents or defend yourself. The handling is intentionally loose, giving the cars a light, skittish feel that fits their size. Races are fast and often unpredictable, with items keeping things tense right to the finish line. It feels like playing with toys come to life.
