Game Overview

Rebel Charge at Chickamauga is one of those deep, old-school Amiga war games where you really feel the weight of history. It’s a tactical sim of the Confederate army’s last big push in the Civil War, and it uses the same system as SSI’s Gettysburg—just tweaked and polished a bit more.

You’ve got 13 turns to fight it out, each one covering two hours of real time across two brutal days. The map’s packed with woods, hills, and roads that actually matter, and every decision—where to push, when to retreat—feels like it could swing the whole battle. Points come from casualties and holding key ground, and at the end, you’re graded on how well you did compared to the real historical outcome.

What’s cool is you can play it three ways: Basic if you just want to move units and fight, Intermediate for some extra rules, or Advanced if you really want to sweat the details. And yeah, you can go head-to-head with a friend or let the AI take either side (though the Union’s a tougher nut to crack). It’s not flashy, but if you like Civil War history, this one digs deeper than most.
