Rebellion came out for the Amiga in 1992 from Fun Factory Promotions. It was one of those top-down shooters that felt right at home on the platform, straightforward in its goals but demanding in execution. You moved through a series of single-screen levels, each a small arena filled with robotic enemies and, more importantly, human hostages you had to protect.
You control a lone soldier armed with a basic blaster, though you can find power-ups like shields and rocket launchers to even the odds. The main objective is to clear each room of hostiles while ensuring no civilians are harmed, either by your fire or the robots. Enemy types vary; some charge directly, others fire from a distance, and a few even set traps like hidden trapdoors. The pacing is tense, and mistakes are costly, since one wrong shot can fail the mission. It feels like a careful, methodical puzzle where every move matters.
