Game Overview

Red Lightning drops you right into a chilling Cold War nightmare—what if the Soviets actually pushed west in the early '90s? You pick a side: either lead NATO's desperate defense or command the Warsaw Pact's relentless advance. The map's all business—grids, unit counters, and just enough terrain detail to make you sweat over river crossings.

First time I played as NATO, I panicked when those Soviet tank divisions started rolling through Fulda Gap. Turns out, digging in with German infantry brigades while waiting for American reinforcements actually works—if you don't mind losing half your forces buying time. The supply rules will wreck you if you forget about them, and air power feels just as finicky as it should.

It's one of those games where you'll stare at the board for twenty minutes before moving a single unit, wondering if this is the push that collapses your entire front. The Amiga's chunky graphics somehow make it even more tense.
