Game Overview
Red Zone is basically Desert Strike but way more intense—you're piloting an Apache helicopter through a full-blown nuclear crisis. Some dictator's gone off the rails and wants to turn the world into a parking lot, so it's your job to blow up his bases, rescue hostages, and grab fuel before you crash into the ocean (which I did way too often at first).
The controls take a second to get used to—your chopper handles like a tank with rotors—but once you get the hang of banking turns and managing your ammo, it's stupidly satisfying to unload missiles on enemy convoys. Just don't forget to refuel. Trust me.
It's one of those Genesis games that still looks great today, with chunky explosions and this weirdly cool pseudo-3D effect when you fly over mountains. The soundtrack's all muffled radio chatter and bass-heavy beats, which somehow makes blowing up radar stations feel even cooler.
If you miss the era where every action game had a ridiculous plot and zero hand-holding, this one's a blast.
