Lead a four-man anti-terrorist squad, switch between operatives, pilot a chopper, and clear enemy strongholds in this intense tactical action game.
Red Zone came out in 1994 for the Sega Genesis, developed by Zyrinx and published by Time Warner Interactive. It was part of that late Genesis wave where developers were really pushing the hardware, trying to squeeze out every last bit of performance and visual flair before the 32-bit consoles took over.
You control a four-man anti-terrorist squad, switching between members on the fly to handle different combat situations. The main goal is to fight through a series of enemy-controlled buildings and installations to stop a global threat. Signature mechanics include piloting an attack helicopter in top-down shooter segments, then rappelling into facilities for tense, screen-by-screen room clearing with your ground team. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving; you have to manage each operative's unique weapons and health carefully. It feels like a high-stakes, tactical action puzzle where one wrong move ends the mission.
