Reign of Fire on the GBA is one of those games that makes you forget you're holding a tiny handheld. You start off in this burnt-out wasteland where dragons have basically turned the world into their personal barbecue pit, and humanity's last hope is... well, you and your rickety helicopter. Or, if you're feeling bold, you can steal a dragon and fight fire with fire—literally.
The controls take a second to click, but once they do, weaving between crumbling skyscrapers while a dragon tail-whips your rotor blades never gets old. The ground missions feel a bit clunky compared to the aerial stuff, but there's something weirdly satisfying about scrambling through ruins with a flamethrower while a shadow passes overhead. It's not perfect, but for a GBA game, the sense of scale is ridiculous—those pixelated dragons actually feel massive.
If you ever wanted a portable mix of Panzer Dragoon and a B-movie disaster flick, this is it. Just don't expect to win any dogfights on your first try.
