Game Overview

Ring Rage came out for the Game Boy in 1998, developed and published by Natsume. It was part of that late 90s wave of portable games where developers tried to pack a full arcade-style experience into a tiny cartridge, and this one focused entirely on boxing. You don't see many pure sports titles like this anymore, especially ones built for quick sessions on the go.

You control a boxer moving left and right on a single screen, trading punches with an opponent. The main goal is to knock them out before they do the same to you. Signature mechanics include a stamina meter that depletes with every punch thrown or blocked, forcing you to pick your shots carefully, and a special super punch that charges up as you land hits. The pacing is fast, matches are short, and the difficulty ramps up quickly against later opponents. It feels tense and immediate, like a real back-and-forth fight condensed into a few minutes.
