You start with a clunky bike and barely any cash, but winning races (or just surviving them) lets you upgrade parts instead of buying new bikes outright—better tires for less skidding, a tuned engine for speed, or reinforced bodywork so you don’t crumple after two hits. The police got nastier too, with helicopters trying to land on you and patrol cars blocking the road. And yeah, you can still smack people with chains or clubs, but now if you finish a race holding one, you get to keep it for the next. Brutal.

What really sticks with me are the little details—dodging kangaroos in Australia, fishtailing on Germany’s icy turns, or catching insane air off Italy’s hills. It’s janky in that classic Genesis way, but that just makes the chaos more fun. Road Rash 3 is the series at its peak before the 3D era messed with the formula.
