Game Overview
Robopon 2: Ring Version is one of those weird little GBA gems that flew under the radar. You play as Cody, a kid who builds and trains these robot creatures called Robopon—kinda like Pokémon, but with more tinkering under the hood. The battles are turn-based, but you can tweak your bots with different parts and upgrades, which gives it a nice DIY feel.
What starts as a typical "become the champion" story takes a sharp left when time travel gets involved. Suddenly you're hopping between past and present versions of Majiko, fixing problems that ripple across both eras. The writing’s got that early 2000s charm—cheesy but endearing, like an old Saturday morning cartoon.
Honestly, the Ring Version has some exclusive Robopon that make it worth picking over Cross if you’re into collecting (though good luck finding a physical copy these days). It’s janky in places, but there’s something oddly satisfying about building your own team of little battle robots.
