Then of course some interdimensional jerks called the Xantho Empire show up, terraform the place, and ruin everything. Cue the emergency reactivation of ZED—this hulking half-robot war machine that's basically Earth's last resort.

You pilot ZED from above, blasting through alien hordes with your main gun and strategically dropping bombs to clear paths. The terrain's full of destructible walls and weird obstacles—sometimes blowing stuff up rewards you with power-ups. Some refill your energy, others give you new weapons to cycle through. Pro tip: hoard the good ones for bosses.

Each of the eight worlds feels like its own little nightmare, with keys to hunt down, hidden rooms (the 'Well of Hope' sounds nice but probably isn't), and these creepy chalices that stop levels from looping forever. And the bosses? Let's just say you'll learn to hate Xur's face real quick.
