Rocket: Robot on Wheels came out on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by Sucker Punch Productions. It was one of those later N64 titles that tried to push the system a bit further, focusing on physics and open level design when many games were still sticking to simpler platforming formulas.

You control Rocket, a small robot tasked with repairing an amusement park after a mischievous raccoon scatters all the tickets needed for the grand opening. The game revolves around exploring large, interactive stages, using a versatile grappling beam to manipulate objects, solve environmental puzzles, and even build your own roller coaster tracks in certain areas. It’s a methodical game that rewards experimentation, with a moderate challenge that comes from figuring out how the physics interact with each puzzle. Moving through each vibrant stage, manipulating the world with such direct physical feedback, gives the whole experience a satisfyingly tactile feel.
