You control Lan in the real world and ProtoMan.EXE in the cyber world, navigating grid based maps and engaging in tactical combat using a customizable selection of Battle Chips. The main objective involves completing missions, often under strict time limits in caravan style segments. Signature mechanics include the Double Soul system, which temporarily merges Navis for enhanced abilities, and Liberation Missions, where you command multiple Navis across a map to achieve objectives within a turn limit.
