Game Overview

Rockman Mega World (or Mega Man: Wily Wars outside Japan) is basically a Genesis remix of the first three NES Mega Man games—1 through 3—with a fresh coat of 16-bit paint. The sprites look chunkier, the colors pop more, and the music’s got that Genesis synth sound, which honestly works better for some tracks than others (looking at you, Wily Stage 1).

It’s not just a straight port, though. There’s a new "Wily Tower" mode that mashes up levels from all three games with some tweaks, plus a save feature (thank god). The physics feel a tiny bit floatier than the originals, which takes some getting used to if you’ve got NES muscle memory. Still, it’s a fun way to replay the classics with a slightly different vibe.

If you’ve never played the old Mega Man games, this is a decent starting point—just don’t expect it to replace the originals.
