Rockman Mega World, released by Capcom in 1994 for the Sega Genesis (or Mega Drive in Japan), is a compilation that remixes stages and bosses from the first three NES Mega Man games. It arrived late in the system's life, offering a different take on familiar challenges for players who might have missed the originals or simply craved more 16-bit action.
You control Mega Man, running, jumping, and shooting through side-scrolling stages filled with enemy robots and environmental hazards. The main goal is to defeat Robot Masters, take their weapons, and eventually confront Dr. Wily. Signature mechanics include selecting stages in any order, acquiring new weapons from defeated bosses to exploit enemy weaknesses, and navigating precise platforming sections. The pacing is brisk, though the physics feel slightly floatier compared to the NES games, and the difficulty remains substantial, especially in the exclusive new Wily Tower stages. It feels like revisiting an old friend who moved to a new neighborhood and got a killer new soundtrack.
