Game Overview

Rockman Mega World came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed and published by Capcom. It was a compilation that brought together stages and bosses from the first three NES Mega Man games, rebuilt for the 16-bit hardware. At the time, it felt like a solid effort to bring the series to a new audience on Sega's console, even if it wasn't a brand new adventure.

You control Mega Man, running and jumping through side-scrolling stages, shooting enemies with your arm cannon. The main goal is to defeat robot masters, take their weapons, and use those weapons against other bosses. Signature mechanics include selecting stages in any order and gaining new abilities from defeated bosses. The pacing is brisk, though the difficulty can spike in certain sections, especially with some awkward enemy placements. It feels like a familiar but slightly different take on the classic action platforming formula.
