Play Rodland (Japan) Online
Pick a fairy, whack enemies into bouncing fruit, then smack ‘em again for coins—until the screen’s swarming and you’re dodging radishes with a giant hammer.

Rodland (Japan) on the Game Boy is one of those games that looks adorable but gets surprisingly intense. You pick either Rit or Tam—these tiny fairy sisters with big pastel dresses—and suddenly you're smacking enemies with a magic rod like some kind of whimsical whack-a-mole champion. Hit an enemy once, and they turn into a bouncing fruit. Hit them again mid-air, and they explode into coins. Or just yeet them off the screen entirely—your call.
The first few levels feel breezy, almost like a puzzle game, but then the screen starts filling up with weird little monsters, and suddenly you're frantically bouncing between platforms, trying to squash them with giant hammers before they corner you. The Japanese version has this weird, untranslated charm—like, why is there a giant smiling radish boss? Who knows, but I love it.
It’s got that Bubble Bobble vibe where everything’s cute until you realize you’re sweating. And if you’ve got a friend around, the co-op mode turns it into a chaotic, giggle-filled mess. Definitely one of the Game Boy’s quirkier little treasures.
