Romance of the Three Kingdoms II on Sega Genesis is one of those strategy games that feels overwhelming at first—until you realize half the fun is figuring out how not to mess up your kingdom. They fixed some of the more frustrating bits from the first game, like generals randomly dropping dead from disease (seriously, that happened way too often).
Time moves slower here, so you actually get to build up your armies and alliances without constantly panicking. The interface feels familiar if you've played Nobunaga's Ambition II, but there's something satisfying about managing ancient Chinese warlords—especially when you finally outmaneuver Cao Cao after he's been a thorn in your side for hours.
It's not flashy, but it's the kind of game where you'll suddenly realize it's 3 AM and you're still debating whether to invade a neighboring province or just bribe their best general to defect.
