Royal Blood is a turn based strategy game released for the Sega Genesis, developed by Sega. It came out during a time when the console was full of action platformers and fighting games, so its methodical, chess like approach to fantasy warfare stood out for being different.
You control a vampire lord leading an army of undead and monstrous units across a grid based map. Your main goal is to conquer enemy castles by out maneuvering rival factions, each with their own leader you can attempt to bribe or assassinate. Key mechanics include using gold to persuade neutral or enemy units to switch sides and triggering environmental traps on the battlefield to eliminate threats. The pacing is deliberately slow, demanding careful planning each turn, and the difficulty comes from managing your finite resources while anticipating the betrayals of your so called allies. It feels like conducting a treacherous orchestra where every instrument is waiting for a chance to play a solo.
