Play RPG Tsukuru - Super Dante Online
You drag sprites onto grid maps, slap together dialogue trees, and somehow end up with a playable—if bizarre—SNES RPG by dinner time. The menus fight back, but seeing your janky little world actually run is pure 90s magic.

Ever wanted to make your own SNES-style RPG but didn’t know where to start? RPG Tsukuru - Super Dante is basically a 16-bit RPG workshop crammed onto a cartridge. You pick the sprites, draw the maps, write the dialogue—even tweak how battles play out. The first time I booted it up, I spent an hour just messing with the font colors before realizing I could make entire towns.
It’s janky in that very 90s way (good luck figuring out some menus without a guide), but there’s something magical about watching your cobbled-together fantasy world actually function. Enemy placements, treasure chests, weird little story twists—it all somehow works. My first dungeon was just a rectangle with way too many slimes, but by the third attempt, I’d accidentally recreated the opening of Final Fantasy IV with worse pacing.
Never got an official translation, but the fan patches do a decent job. Just don’t expect modern polish—half the fun is wrestling with its charming limitations.
