RR64—Ridge Racer 64 was one of those N64 racers that just felt right. The drifting mechanics are ridiculous in the best way—you can slide around corners like you're on ice, barely in control but somehow still winning. The tracks have this late-'90s arcade vibe, all neon lights and tight turns that punish you if you don’t nail the timing.
I spent way too much time in split-screen mode with friends, arguing over who got the blue car (it’s faster, obviously). The AI isn’t exactly brutal, but some of those later races get sneaky—you’ll think you’ve got first place locked down until someone zooms past at the last second. It’s pure arcade chaos, no realism, just fun.
If you miss when racing games were more about style than simulation, this one’s a blast from the past.
