Runark is this weirdly cool beat-em-up with an outback adventure vibe—like if Indiana Jones traded his whip for a pair of fists and fought his way through the Australian wilderness. The arcade version let you team up with three friends, which was chaos in the best way, but the Genesis port is where I first played it. The sprites are chunky, the punches feel satisfyingly heavy, and there’s something oddly charming about knocking out kangaroo-riding goons. It’s not the deepest brawler out there, but it’s got personality. The music’s got this tinny, adventurous twang that somehow works perfectly.
