Throwing massive, janky punches with characters that look like they're melting—landing a special move feels like winning the lottery with those brutal inputs. That announcer screaming the title still gives me chills, though.

Game Overview

Ryuuko no Ken (or Art of Fighting outside Japan) is one of those early SNK fighters that feels rough around the edges now, but man, those sprites were huge for the time. Like, your character takes up half the screen when they do a special move. The super gauge was a neat twist—you had to land hits to charge it before pulling off flashy desperation attacks. Not as smooth as Street Fighter II, but there's something charming about its janky, over-the-top vibe.

First thing you'll notice? The characters look like they're made of clay, all stretched and weird when they move. And good luck landing a dragon punch—the timing's brutal. Still, it's got this weird charisma, especially if you're into early '90s fighting game experiments. The announcer yelling "RYUUKO NO KEN!" when you pick it still gives me nostalgia chills.
