Secret Scout in the Temple of Demise came out in 1991 for the NES, published by Color Dreams. It was part of that wave of lower budget action platformers that tried to carve out a space on the console, often with a focus on straightforward, challenging gameplay rather than big production values.
You control a scout who must navigate a sprawling, trap filled temple. Your main goal is to rescue a kidnapped girl by fighting through enemies and finding the exit in each stage. You attack by kicking, which has a short range and requires you to get up close to foes. The levels are designed screen by screen, with plenty of bottomless pits, tricky jumps, and enemies that fire projectiles from off screen. It is a difficult game that demands precise timing and patience, often feeling more punishing than rewarding. Playing it is an exercise in memorization and persistence against some occasionally unforgiving level design.
