Game Overview

Sensible Soccer came out on the Sega Genesis in 1992, developed by Sensible Software and published by Sony Imagesoft in Europe. It was part of that wave of early 90s sports games that moved away from simulation toward something faster and more arcade-like, fitting right in among other action focused titles on the system.

You control one player at a time, directing passes and making runs while the AI handles your teammates. The main goal is simple: score more goals than the opponent. Signature mechanics include the aftertouch system, which lets you curve shots in mid air by holding the d pad after kicking, and the emphasis on through balls and quick one twos to break defenses. Matches are fast, almost frantic, with a high scoring rate and very little downtime. It feels immediate and physical, a game where every possession could turn into a goal or a comical miss within seconds.
