You control a shinobi named Hayate, moving screen by screen through enemy-filled stages to rescue hostages and defeat a boss. Your main tools are a sword for close combat and shurikens for distance, but the standout feature is your ninja dog companion, who you can command to attack or hold enemies in place. The pacing is fast and demanding, with enemies swarming from all sides and instant death waiting in environmental hazards. It feels tense and deliberate, where every jump and attack has to be measured against the immediate threat.
