Game Overview

Shiftrix is one of those Amiga puzzle games that looks simple at first—just colored blocks on a grid—but gets surprisingly tricky once you start moving things around. You slide blocks in any direction, and they keep going until they hit a wall or another block. The catch? You’ve got to match colors to make them vanish, but the levels throw in time limits and a handful of bombs to help clear stubborn blocks.

What I like is how different it feels from Atomix—instead of building shapes, you’re clearing the board, and sometimes you’ll set off a chain reaction that wipes half the screen. The multiplayer mode is neat too—you can either take turns moving one block at a time or race to solve separate levels. It’s the kind of game where you’ll stare at the screen for a minute, make one move, and suddenly everything clicks (or falls apart).
