The stag beetle-themed bots here (Kuwagata’s whole deal) are weirdly charming, especially when you start swapping their arms and legs like some kind of mechanical mad scientist.
Battles play out on a grid, so there’s actual strategy beyond just mashing attacks. I remember getting wrecked early on because I gave a robot a cool-looking cannon… that couldn’t hit anything two squares away. The pixel art’s got that chunky, early 2000s charm, and there’s something satisfying about watching your janky creations barely scrape through a fight.
