Game Overview

Shuang Xiang Pao is one of those weird, unlicensed NES shooters that somehow ends up being way more fun than it has any right to be. You control two ships at the same time—they're linked together, so moving one drags the other along in this awkward, physics-y way. At first, it feels like herding cats, but once you get the hang of it, dodging bullets with both ships becomes this weirdly satisfying puzzle.

The levels throw waves of enemies at you, and since your ships fire in different directions, you're constantly rotating them to cover blind spots. It's janky in that classic bootleg NES way—some hitboxes are questionable, and the power-ups make zero sense until you trial-and-error your way through them. But there's something charming about how committed it is to its bizarre two-ship gimmick.

If you've played every mainstream shooter on the NES and want something that feels fresh (and slightly unhinged), this is worth digging up. Just don't expect it to play fair.
