I picked up SK8 - Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on Game Boy Advance back when it came out, a port handled by Natsume. It was one of those attempts to bring a console experience to a handheld, and for its time, it did a decent job translating the feel of the series onto the small screen. The graphics are naturally simplified, but the core of the game is there.

You control a pro skater, completing two-minute runs through levels like the School or the Hangar. The main goal is to score points, find hidden tapes, and complete objectives like collecting the letters S-K-A-T-E. Key mechanics include building your special meter by landing tricks, then executing signature moves like the 900; manualing to link combos across gaps is essential. The pacing is fast, and the controls take some getting used to on the GBA's buttons, but once it clicks, pulling off a long combo feels satisfying and fluid.
