Play Skul Jagger Online
You play as Storm Jaxon, slashing through kilt-wearing pirates with a stolen sword, uncovering hidden caves full of lizard monsters when you poke around the ruins. The stiff controls take getting used to, but chopping through enemies feels weirdly good once you do.

Skul Jagger on SNES is one of those weirdly charming action-platformers where you play as Storm Jaxon, some rebel dude with a stolen sword trying to overthrow a pirate dictator. The first level throws you right into it—you’re dodging guys in kilts (seriously, the whole enemy army wears them) while hopping across crumbling ruins. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the sword swings, it’s oddly satisfying to cleave through waves of enemies.
There’s this one moment early on where you stumble into a hidden cave behind a waterfall, and suddenly you’re fighting these weird lizard things called bladebacks. The game loves hiding stuff like that—apparently there are like 50 secret maps if you poke around enough. The pixel art’s got that gritty 16-bit vibe, especially in Urnum, this ancient city level where everything’s all broken columns and shadowy corners.
It’s not perfect—some of the platforming bits will make you groan—but there’s something about the whole "ragtag rebellion" vibe that sticks with you. Just don’t expect the swordplay to be as smooth as, say, Zelda.
