Play Small Soldiers (USA, Europe) Online

You control the Gorgonites in a scrappy little side-scroller, fending off relentless Commando attacks with clunky but oddly satisfying combat. The tiny sprites give it this weirdly endearing B-movie toy war vibe.

Game Overview

Small Soldiers for the Game Boy came out in 1998, developed by Tiertex and published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games that felt right at home on the handheld, a straightforward action title that didn't try to overcomplicate things. You could tell it was made to ride the wave of the movie's hype, but it stood on its own as a decent little time-killer for the platform.

You play as Archer, leading the Gorgonites through a series of side-scrolling levels, fighting off Commando Elite soldiers with basic attacks and occasional special weapons. The goal is to rescue your captured allies while navigating enemy-filled environments, using switches and avoiding hazards. Combat is simple but responsive; you punch, jump on enemies, and sometimes pick up temporary weapons like slingshots. The levels are fairly short but packed with enemies, making progress feel earned. It captures the feeling of a small-scale war between toys surprisingly well.
