Play Smurfs, The (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es) Online
Guide Smurfette or Handy Smurf through side-scrolling levels, jump over hazards, defeat enemies with a boomerang, and rescue trapped Smurfs along the way in this NES platformer.
I picked up Smurfs on the NES back in the day, a 1994 release from Infogrames. It was one of those later NES titles that came out when everyone was already deep into the 16-bit era, so it felt a bit like a holdover, but it had its own simple charm. The graphics were bright and colorful, exactly what you'd expect from a game based on such a cheerful license.
You control either Smurfette or Handy Smurf, navigating through side-scrolling levels filled with enemies like bats and spiders. The main goal is to rescue the other Smurfs, who are trapped in cages scattered throughout each stage. Your primary tool is a boomerang for attacking foes, and you spend a lot of time jumping across platforms, avoiding environmental hazards like thorny vines and bottomless pits. The pacing is methodical, requiring careful jumps and timing, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with limited lives and continues. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes frustrating platformer that relies heavily on memorization and patience.
