Game Overview

Soleil (or Crusader of Centy if you're in North America) is one of those Genesis games that slipped under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. At first glance, it feels like a Zelda clone—you’ve got your sword, your dungeons, your little hero saving the world—but then your sword starts talking to you. And not just generic wise mentor stuff, either. This thing’s got attitude.

The real hook? You can chat with animals and borrow their abilities. A monkey lets you double jump, a penguin freezes enemies—it sounds gimmicky, but it actually changes how you approach fights and puzzles. The world’s bright and weird, full of NPCs who say bizarre things, and the story goes places you wouldn’t expect from a 16-bit game. It’s got that rare mix of silly and sincere.

Honestly, it’s a shame more people haven’t played this. If you dig old-school action RPGs with personality, give it a shot—just don’t blame me when you get attached to your sarcastic sword.
