Solstice came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Software Creations and published by Sony Imagesoft. It was one of those late NES titles that tried something a little different, using an isometric perspective to build its world instead of the standard side scrolling or top down views most games used.

You control the wizard Shadax, navigating through a massive fortress room by room. Your goal is to rescue Princess Eleanor from the sorcerer Morbius, but getting there means solving environmental puzzles, collecting keys and potions, and avoiding traps. The game focuses heavily on exploration and logic; you'll push blocks, find hidden switches, and manage your limited inventory of magic items. It moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty is steep, demanding careful observation and patience. Playing it feels like slowly untangling a complex, dangerous knot.
