Rick’s back, strapping on that cursed mask again—this time you’re chainsawing through floating demon heads and dodging fish with razor teeth while the walls bleed. Boss fights hit hard, and missing their patterns hurts.

Splatterhouse 2 came out for the Sega Genesis in 1992, developed by Now Production and published by Namco. It was part of that wave of early 90s games that pushed the system's darker, more mature themes, standing out with its horror aesthetic and unapologetic gore. While not the first in the series, it refined the formula and became a memorable entry for players who wanted something more visceral than the usual platformers of the time.
You control Rick, a muscular fighter wearing a supernatural mask, as he battles through a haunted mansion to rescue his girlfriend. The game progresses screen by screen, with Rick using his fists, found weapons like pipes and shotguns, and even his own torn-off limbs to smash grotesque enemies. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is punishing; enemies swarm quickly, and environmental hazards demand precise timing. It feels raw and aggressive, like you're constantly fighting just to survive each new room.
