Game Overview
If you ever wanted to play a conquistador simulator with a sci-fi twist, Spoils of War on the Amiga is your game. You’re not just colonizing some random New World—you’re doing it on a made-up planet called Paradise, which honestly feels like someone took 16th-century Spain and dropped it into a space opera. Weirdly, it works.
The gameplay’s split into phases where you explore, build cities, and fight battles—both on land and sea. The combat’s surprisingly deep, too. Your troops get better with experience, but if you don’t keep them supplied, they’ll crumble fast. I learned that the hard way when my elite unit got wiped out because I forgot to ship in food.
What’s cool is that you can play against up to three other people, and the AI isn’t a pushover either. There’s even a Hall of Fame to track your best conquistadors, which is a nice touch if you’re into bragging rights. Just don’t expect a fast-paced game—this one’s all about slow, methodical conquest.
