SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge on the GBA is way better than it has any right to be. You start off bouncing around Bikini Bottom like a hyperactive sponge, flipping burgers at the Krusty Krab one minute and dodging jellyfish the next. The controls actually feel good—none of that stiff, slippery movement you sometimes get with licensed games.
What surprised me was how much it feels like the show. The colors pop, the humor’s dumb in that perfect SpongeBob way, and you’ll spot Plankton scheming in the background or Patrick doing something profoundly stupid. The golden spatula collectibles give you a reason to explore, but mostly it’s just fun to soak up (ha) the weird little details.
If you’ve got nostalgia for early 2000s SpongeBob or just want a solid GBA platformer that doesn’t take itself seriously, this one’s a blast. It holds up better than most TV tie-in games from that era.
