Play Spyro Adventures (E)(Patience) Online

Spyro’s gone 2D—charge through enemies, roast sheep (still weird), and hunt gems in tight, clever levels. The glide takes getting used to, but nailing those tricky later stages feels great.

Game Overview

Spyro Adventures on the GBA is one of those games I picked up expecting a watered-down version of the console classics—but it surprised me. Yeah, it's 2D, but they nailed the feel of being Spyro. You're still charging through enemies, roasting sheep (why does he hate sheep so much?), and hunting for gems in these compact but surprisingly detailed levels.

The controls take a minute to adjust if you're used to the 3D games—gliding feels different when you can't freely rotate the camera—but once it clicks, it's satisfying in its own way. Some of the later levels get legit tricky, especially when you're trying to 100% them. That underwater section? Still gives me flashbacks.

It's not the deepest Spyro game out there, but there's something cozy about playing it on the tiny GBA screen. Perfect for short bursts when you're waiting around somewhere.
