Play Star Trek Generations - Beyond the Nexus (Europe) Online
Blast Klingons in cramped ship corridors, flip between Kirk and Picard to solve chunky pixel puzzles, and somehow make the Enterprise feel alive on that tiny screen. It’s clunky in that way only Game Boy Treks get.
Star Trek Generations: Beyond the Nexus came out for the Game Boy in 1994, developed by Absolute Entertainment. It was one of those licensed titles that tried to capture the feel of the film on a handheld, back when translating big sci-fi adventures to a small monochrome screen was still a real challenge. The game doesn't try to be flashy; it's very much a product of its time, built around exploration and simple action.
You control either Captain Kirk or Captain Picard, switching between them to progress through the story. The main goal is to stop the villain Soran from destroying a star system. You move screen by screen through the decks of the Enterprise, firing your phaser at Klingon enemies and solving environmental puzzles by pushing objects or finding key items. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes slow, and the enemies can feel a bit spongy. It's not an easy game, with some awkward platforming and limited visibility in the tight corridors. Playing it feels like working through a rough but earnest adaptation, where the spirit of the source material just barely shines through the hardware limitations.
