Game Overview
Ever wanted to play as both Kirk and Picard on a Game Boy? Yeah, neither did I—until I stumbled on this weird little pocket-sized Star Trek adventure. It’s got everything crammed into that tiny cartridge: phaser fights, ship battles, even some surprisingly decent puzzles. The Nexus storyline actually works better here than in parts of the movie, if I’m honest.
Don’t expect deep space exploration—this is more like a compact away mission where every screen counts. The pixel art makes the Enterprise look like it’s built out of LEGO bricks, but there’s charm in how they squeezed warp core breaches and tricorder scans into monochrome. Pro tip: save often. Those Klingon bird-of-prey encounters get brutal when you’re down to your last energy cell.
It’s janky, it’s 90s as hell, and I wouldn’t trade it for a dozen modern Trek games. The battery probably died in my original cartridge years ago, but I can still hear the bleepy version of the theme song.
