Star Trek Generations - Beyond the Nexus on Game Boy is one of those weird little licensed games that somehow crams way more variety than you’d expect into a tiny cartridge. You bounce between starship battles (either the Enterprise-B or -D, which is a nice touch), dodging Klingon disruptors and lining up photon torpedo shots from the bridge view. The space navigation bits feel oddly relaxing—just cruising through floating rectangles like some kind of interstellar obstacle course.
Then it flips to top-down away missions where you’re sneaking around with a phaser, taking potshots at Tholians. The real surprise? The puzzles. One’s a logic game where you’re decoding frequencies by trial and error (think Mastermind but with Starfleet symbols), and the other’s this janky pipe-routing minigame that’ll either frustrate you or hook you. It’s jumbled, ambitious, and somehow totally feels like a weird lost episode.
