Star Trek Generations: Beyond the Nexus came out for the Game Boy in 1994, developed by Absolute Entertainment. It was one of those licensed games that tried to do a lot with very little, typical of the handheld's library at the time. The game follows the plot of the film, letting you step into the roles of both Captain Picard and Captain Kirk as they confront the villain Soran.

You control your character screen by screen, navigating the Enterprise, alien landscapes, and the energy ribbon called the Nexus. The main goal is to stop Soran from destroying stars, which involves a mix of away team combat, simple environmental puzzles, and occasional starship command sequences. You use your phaser in tense, close range fights and solve logic puzzles to progress; the pacing is deliberate, and some sections can feel quite challenging due to the limited view and controls. Playing it feels like working through a condensed, slightly awkward episode where every action requires patience.
