Game Overview
Star Wars Episode I - Racer is that classic N64 game where you’re basically strapping yourself into a screaming metal death trap and praying you don’t flip into a canyon at 600 mph. You start as Anakin (or one of the other weirdos from the movie) and race these insane pod racers that handle like shopping carts with jet engines.
The first few races feel chaotic—you’ll scrape walls, spin out, and maybe question why anyone thought letting a 9-year-old do this was a good idea. But once you get the hang of drifting around tight corners and upgrading your pod with better engines or stabilizers, it clicks. The Tatooine track is just as ridiculous as you remember, all sand dunes and narrow gaps between rock formations. And yeah, you’ll probably crash. A lot.
Winning races earns credits to tweak your pod, and the later tracks get wild—lava pits, ice caves, the works. It’s janky in that late-’90s way, but that’s part of the charm. If you ever wanted to know what it feels like to pilot a vehicle held together by duct tape and sheer recklessness, this is your game.
