Game Overview

Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2001, developed by The Code Monkeys and published by THQ. It was part of that early wave of GBA titles trying to capture console-style action on a handheld, with all the compromises that entailed. You got a side-scrolling brawler set in the prequel era, which felt pretty fresh at the time.

You pick a Jedi like Obi-Wan or Qui-Gon and fight through levels based on Episode I, slashing battle droids with your lightsaber and using Force powers to push enemies or solve simple puzzles. The goal is to clear each screen of foes while moving right, with some light platforming and occasional boss fights against characters like Darth Maul. The combat relies on button combos for different attacks, and you collect power-ups to restore health or boost your Force meter. It can feel a bit repetitive and the difficulty spikes in places, but thereโ€™s a straightforward satisfaction in cutting down droids with a lightsaber. It plays like a simplified, portable version of its console counterpart, focused on action above all else.
